Plans for The Wet Bar Refresh

After some controversial polls on our Instagram stories (sorry not sorry, we went with the minority), we decided we want our lower level to have a dark and moody vibe after we saw these inspiration pictures from The Salamander Pub in Bath, UK.

After scrolling Pinterest endlessly for bar inspo, I fell in love with this pub. It has all of the vibes I want for our lower level, cozy, classic and moody yet still bright. The painted paneling and those arches stole my heart! We’re very lucky with our split level because we have large full size windows in our lower level that let in a ton of light so our basement can definitely handle a darker colour on the walls.

Anyway so here is a before just to refresh the memory, eeeek:

And this is our mood board for the space we are wanting to create!

Of course not everything we will add to the space is listed here because I want to thrift as much as I can for styling the shelves, but we’re headed in the right direction, we have a plan and that’s a victory on its own!

And here is the list of things we need to tackle to whip this space up into shape:

  1. Dry wall that fricken ceiling!!!
I am not sure how long that ceiling has been open but after two years I’m over it and we’re going to close it in with nice clean drywall.

  2. Even out the shelves + add arches to them

The shelves that line the back of the bar aren’t evenly spaced, so my goal is to build out the middle part so they are symmetrical (so pleasing to the eye) and then add arches to the top shelf just like the shelves in my favourite pub The Salamander!

  3. Paint all the paneling

Benjamin Moore Dark Pewter, yes yes yes!

  4. Replace the countertops and cabinet hardware

We’re going with Ikea EKBACKEN Countertops, a faux marble laminate and cannot wait to try installing them ourselves! Also I was looking for a simple brass hardware and I’m loving this one.

  5. New sink and faucet

I’ve NEVER seen a better priced bridge faucet you guys! It’s polished chrome which I’m really digging and so affordable… $158 what? Somebody pinch me. Also this sink, simple and does the job.

  6. New light

We picked up this light from the Eq3 Outlet, it’s peach and adorable and I hope it adds that little bit of softness to our finished space.

  7. Find some thrifted bar stool and other goodies!

I will definitely take you guys along the journey on instagram stories and will post lots of progress on here as well! I can’t wait to get my hands on this project, I’ve been waiting for this one (turn it up).
