A Fall Living Room Refresh

There is something about a change in seasons that sparks a desire to recharge and freshen up a space in our home, and this time, our living room was due for a makeover. A new layout, a large oriental rug, a frame TV and warm fall accents have really brought life to this space and enhanced the cozy factor that we all crave as the temperature cools.

We moved our couch in front of our floor to ceiling windows and it completely changed our main floor. We have been planning to add a TV above the fireplace for some time and in preparation for my maternity leave, we pulled the trigger. If I’m being completely honest, I wanted a good spot to lay down, binge some netflix and snuggle our little babe and we were definitely able to achieve that!

This oriental inspired rug from Wayfair has the perfect mix of warm tones and pattern that helps ground the space and we are loving it! We ordered a larger size than our previous rug (this one is almost a 9’x12’) and it fills our living room perfectly. This size of rug fits our living room furniture so well and allows every piece to have the two front legs resting on the rug (a good rule of thumb for finding an appropriately sized rug for your space). With the new layout, our mid-century lounge chairs can float away from the wall and this allows room for a side table in between. This marble and gold side table from Wayfair fits snuggly between the two chairs and provides the perfect spot to rest a morning coffee. We also moved our vintage stereo to the space in between our living room and dining room and added a vintage curved lamp beside the stereo to brighten this area in the evening. The ambiance of a good lamp can really enhances the cozy factor of any space and I must say, I get excited for the sun to set and to turn on the lamps!

For that fall touch, we added warm earthy tones throughout the space with throws, pillows and a Persian Shield plant that has the most beautiful deep toned leaves. A wood dough bowl houses a collection of polaroid photos that helps keep memories close by. We are loving this new layout and refreshed space, it feels like a brand new home and we are here for it!
